The Auction has ended – so how much did Laurel Holloman and Miki Turner raise ?

The auction that Laurel Holloman and Miki Turner were doing has come to a close on December 21. Laurel’s Paintings brought in $22,250; Miki’s photo’s raised $4,882; and the sketches brought in $1,540 – for a grand total of $28,672 (this was posted by Laurel Holloman on twitter). And not that it should come to a surprise to anyone but Laurel has decided to personally hand each of the winners of the auction their painting in person if they come to LA (WOW how does that in hollywood – laurel is amazing!)

Laurel and Miki still want everyone to know that the First Giving page is still up and raising money – in a recent tweet Laurel mentioned that they hope to raise $50,000 through First Giving and that the link will be active till the end of 2010 ! So even if you couldn’t bid on paintings and pictures that were up for auction – it would be nice if everyone could donate to this charity that means so much to Laurel and Miki. http://www.firstgiving.com/laurelhollomannet1

Laurel Holloman has teamed up with photographer Miki Turner to create an auction in support of the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust

Laurel writes on the auction hompage, “[All money raised by] this auction (100%) has been earmarked for the education of children and for health clinics.”

It will include paintings by Laurel Holloman, photographs by Miki Turner, as well as sketches by Rachel Shelley and Pam Grier and is scheduled to go live on Ebay soon, so check www.mwctlaurelholloman.com regularly to participate in supporting this great cause. If you want to donate regardless of the auction, you can do so through Laurel’s MWCT fundraising page or directly on the MWCT site.

Awhile back on Laurel Holloman’s twitter account she posted the she and Miki Turner were working on putting together a charity auction. The auction of paintings made by Laurel and photographs taken by Miki Turner will happen sometime in December on EBay.  Check back for more details.

In these videos Laurel Holloman and Miki Turner talk Unrehearsed and Unscripted.

Video 1: Miki starts by asking Laurel about how she got involved with Maasai trust and how long it takes Laurel from a blank canvas her finished product. The the Q&A goes on the ask how Laurel got started and decided to pursue art as a hobby? Laurel goes on to tell all the places she studied art. Then Laurel asks Miki about her first trip to Kenya.

In the second video Miki talks about her father; what makes their friendship work qualities they admire; more about Miki’s trip to Africa and about her book she is working on (which Laurel is in) about different cultures of women and how they approach aging

In this video is starts out talking about the paintings Laurel created for the auction and it shows pictures of some of them; then they go on to talk about some of the photos that Miki is contributing to the auction. Laurel also goes on the talk about “Gigantic” which is a show based on teenagers that are surrounded by celebrity life in LA and her role as a single mom.

The last video starts with the question what were the 3 most memorable moments on the set of the L word. And where are their favorite places to travel.

Birthday Donations

A number of people who visit other web sites have expressed a desire to donate to Médecins Sans Frontières (otherwise known as Doctors Without Borders) in honor of Laurel’s upcoming Birthday on 23rd May.  They have now increased the target to a challenging $4,000.  If you would like to donate please go to the charity donation page at First Giving which allows you to donate securely online.  It doesn’t matter how big or small your donation is, it all makes a big difference to the lives of others who are less fortunate.  They are looking to raise $25,000 – and they are over $20,000 already – so please go contribute and don’t forget to leave a message.
